JUDGMENT OF RECORD ·
Apple is rebuilding the home as a closed Siri gate. HomeView reportedly ships with no App Store, and LG builds the accessories.
On Oct 8 Apple confirmed a Welcome home event for Oct 13 in New York. On Oct 11 Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported the hub, called HomeView, ships around mid-November with an A18 chip, Siri AI as the main input, a limited set of Apple apps and no App Store. LG will build and support the doorbell, lock, thermostat and cameras Apple helped design. Apple has not confirmed product details.
The layer moving is distribution. Apple keeps the screen and the assistant and hands device risk to LG. Every home command runs through Siri, which Apple built on Google's Gemini. On Oct 10 an EU filing showed Apple will hire Huxe staff and license its AI podcast tech. Apple buys AI features and owns the gate.
Context: on Oct 8 the FT reported OpenAI's annualized revenue near $50 billion, about $20 billion below investor estimates. Standalone assistants earn less than priced, so the owner of the default surface holds the stronger hand. Distribution Capture governs and stays Active. Confidence is Low: product details rest on one reporter, and Siri AI is still a US English beta.
