JUDGMENT OF RECORD ·
Care is getting a checkout layer that AI agents can call. General Medicine raised $120M to sell priced care across insurers and providers, outside network contracts.
General Medicine announced a $120M Series B on Oct 6, reported Oct 7, led by a16z with Eli Lilly and Mercy Health investing. It sells over 2,900 care products at insurance and cash prices from its own medical group and outside providers, regardless of contracts or integrations. It says the same rails will let an AI agent shop for a patient. Traction figures are company reported.
Money also moved into hospital software paid from reimbursement. On Oct 8 Fierce Healthcare reported Healthleap raised $38M from Sequoia, First Round and Hummingbird to flag undiagnosed conditions in inpatient records at 50+ hospitals, priced per bed. On Oct 7 AHRQ opened a $7.95M prize for AI in health evidence.
The layer moving is distribution. A priced, standard catalog lets any assistant turn advice into a booked service, which takes the referral step from payer networks and health systems. Distribution Capture governs. Confidence is Low: one company, early, with self-reported traction.

WHAT WOULD PROVE THIS WRONG
General Medicine adds no outside providers beyond its own medical group by June 30, 2027, or a major AI assistant routes care purchases through a payer network instead.
