JUDGMENT OF RECORD ·
Banks are keeping the corporate treasury rail by putting deposits on chain. Ant moved live funds on HSBC and OCBC tokenised deposits within 48 hours.
On Oct 6 Ant International and HSBC said Ant completed instant dirham transfers inside the UAE and dollar transfers from the UAE to Hong Kong and Singapore on HSBC's Tokenised Deposit Service. Ant is its first Middle East client. The service runs in six markets and seven currencies. On Oct 7 OCBC and Ant launched tokenised deposits for Singapore dollar and US dollar liquidity between Singapore and Malaysia, outside banking hours.
Both run on Ant's WhaleRTP platform, which links more than 20 banks and 17 currencies. In the UAE, central bank rules allow foreign currency stablecoins onshore only to buy virtual assets, so a bank deposit is the legal dollar rail. Also on Oct 6, SAP made payments native to its cloud ERP in the US and UK, with stablecoin settlement offered only for cross-border transfers.
The layer moving is infrastructure. Corporate treasurers get 24/7 settlement without leaving the bank balance sheet, which keeps deposits and float with banks. Distribution Capture governs. Confidence is Medium: two banks shipped live service in two days, but no one disclosed volumes.
