JUDGMENT OF RECORD ·
Amazon's block is building Meta a rival checkout. Muse now buys at Walmart, Best Buy and Shopify stores, and Meta plans to take a fee on each purchase.
At Connect on Sept 23 and 24, Meta signed Muse up with Walmart, Best Buy, Sephora, Wayfair, Gap, Instacart and the full Shopify catalog, with Shop Pay and PayPal at checkout. Zuckerberg said Muse stays free for a huge number of tokens and that Meta expects to profit from a small fee on transactions.
Demand is real. App trackers put Muse at 2.3 million to 4.3 million downloads by Sept 25; Appfigures gives the low end. It has held the top US App Store spot since Sept 18. Meta says over 1,500 developers applied to build connectors in under a week.
The layer moving is distribution. Amazon cut Muse off on Sept 22, and retailers who want agent traffic now route it through Meta instead. A fee on purchases gives Meta a second revenue line beside ads. Governing signal: Distribution Capture. Confidence is Medium because Meta has not disclosed the fee or any purchase volume.

WHAT WOULD PROVE THIS WRONG
